Re: “Oil and gas rules barrel into fight,” March 7 news story.

In this era of seemingly endless partisanship, The Post should go out of its way to tell us when politicians cross the aisle because it’s the right thing to do for Colorado.

That’s what Rep. Ellen Roberts, R-Durango, did last week when she decided to put politics aside and voted for common-sense rules that protect our drinking water from oil and gas drilling. But The Post’s article on the Legal Services Committee vote, simply quoted a Republican who’s against the new rules and a Democrat who’s for them, leaving citizens under the impression that there weren’t any legislators who had the guts to rise above partisanship-as-usual. Roberts acted independently for public health — that’s news, and that’s leadership.
