The priority
Ensure that any new uranium operations in Colorado include the associated clean up costs while continuing to work to clean up the legacy of past uranium operations.
Why this is vital now
Higher uranium prices and increasing demand for nuclear power are driving a uranium mining doom in Colorado. Past uranium development has left behind a toxic legacy and has cost taxpayers over a billion dollars in clean up costs. We must ensure that any new developments are done as cleanly as possible – and the developers are footing the bill for any unavoidable damage.
